By the time of the Civil War, our family was well ensconced in Tennessee, and venturing into Kentucky as well. Despite misgiving by some in the family about slavery and the rebel cause, all fought for the Confederacy. I have provided only a portion of the Deadericks who fought on this site, but I do intend to add the rest shortly.

What impresses me about the stories I have included below is how they show the underlying intimacy of this bloody war. The brothers and cousins weave in and out of the war experiences of the others in comic and tragic ways. Read for yourself.
